Cisco Career Certifications exams includes the following test formats: multiple-choice single answer, multiple-choice multiple answer, drag-and-drop, fill-in-the-blank, and simulations. Prior to taking the exam, candidates should become familiar with how all exam types function-especially the exam simulation tool. Such practice will allow candidates to focus their exam-taking effort on the exam questions rather than how to correctly use the tools. The tutorial below familiarizes users with the software tools used in Cisco Career Certifications exams.

The router simulation in the tutorial enables individuals to move around a router interface and get a sense for moving across hardware devices. It differs from the actual exam in that detailed router functionality has been disabled. In contrast, router simulations in Cisco proctored exams will accept partial responses that an actual Cisco router will understand. For example: "Show Config' or 'Sho Config' or 'Sh Conf' would be acceptable. 'Router #show ip protocol' or 'router # show ip prot' would be acceptable. The exam commands must include the correct spacing, spelling and marks (#@!?).
